Program and Events

MAFE meets at Noon on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month at McCormick’s at 2419 Montana Avenue and lunch is $11.50 ($12.05 if paying by PayPal).     The first networking event of 2018 will be a casual gathering at Hooligan's Sports Bar.  Come share the fun with no-host drinks and food off the menu.  Guests are welcome!

    Julie Seedhouse is a REALTOR® with Century 21 Hometown Brokers and a very active member in the community. She has a background in education and is currently a Chamber board member. She will be providing information on the real estate market in Billings, as well as her most recent venture – the launch of 100 Strong.

    6:15PM - Grand Escape - 801 14th St. W. (cost $17/person)

    Come join the fun escaping from a room at the Grand Escape.  Cost is $17 per person, and you must be at the Grand Escape location by 6:15PM, to enter the room at 6:30PM.  Try to escape through the use of clues in the room, within 60 minutes!  Lots of fun!!  We will be meeting beforehand for snacks and drinks (on your dollar!) at Guadalajara (1223 Grand Avenue) from 4:30-6:00, if you are interested, or can go directly to Grand Escape by 6:15.  RSVP by Monday February 5 to mafe.rsvp@gmail.com.

    Connection with others is essential for a happy, fulfilling life whether it be through parenting, dating, marriage, friendships, or business.  However, relationships can often be filled with significant challenges—from daily communication issues to coping with stress, illness, loss, transitions, and family dynamics.  Holly is passionate about helping individuals navigate these challenges in order to strengthen communication, connection, and closeness.

    Lisa will be giving us an overview of her 12 years with the DBA as well as discussing their involvement in the growth and development of downtown Billings.  She will also talk about her new position as the Minister of Healing and Community Transformation at First Congregational Church, the oldest church in downtown Billings, where she will be working with the transient population, people with addiction problems, and coming up with ways for the congregation to play a role in engaging in the community around the church.

    Wear your green and come have some Irish fun!  Dinner will be provided, including corned beef and cabbage, Dubliner cheese and crackers, shamrock cookies, and other surprises!  A non-alcoholic punch will be provided, but if you want alcohol, bring what you want to drink.  Cost is $5/person, and all are welcome!

    Chris Mackey and Amity Malberg will be coming to provide an overview of the Attendance Mentoring Program through United Way. With a goal of 95% graduation rate in Yellowstone County in 2025, Chris and Amity are charged with raising awareness of the program and finding volunteers to support this mentoring initiative.

    Briana Rickman, the Director of Dress for Success, will be sharing Dress for Success’ mission and purpose and the plan the organization has to reach it’s goals. Sweet Success, the non-profit's largest fundraiser was held in March and Briana will be sharing it’s results as well.

If you don't want to paint, but still want to come and network you are more than welcome to join us, but we still need an R.S.V.P and the cost is $2 for the snacks.

    Women of the Wild West – This 30 minute power point program briefly introduces the stories of six amazing women from our region, including the suffragist Hazel Hunkins Hallinan, the bucking horse riding Greenough Sisters of Red Lodge, Crow medicine woman Pretty Shield, nationally syndicated cartoonist Ethel Hays, writer and rancher Caroline Lockhart, and the homesteader poet Gwendolen Haste.

    Marcie Smith will be speaking on behalf of the Landon’s Legacy Foundation. The mission of the organization is to leave a tangible footprint in the Billings community by creating the first special needs baseball field in the area, and it will serve children and adults who suffer from any physical or mental disabilities which causes them to be excluded from other baseball leagues

    Join us for an exciting adventure at Zoo Montana!!! - Wednesday June 6, @ 5:30 (you can show up any time after 5:00). Cost is $10 check to MAFE or cash, and BYOB.  We will be going on a self guided tour of the Zoo.  The animals will be out for us to view (the big ones are usually put away by 5:00, so we got lucky tonight!!). Then we will meet back at the pavilion for cocktails, snacks and networking.

    Doug and Kelli, creators of the Thought Leaders Project, will be speaking to us about their mission and how they help business owners prosper. They spent the last several weeks interviewing local Billings ‘Thought Leaders’ and asked them to describe their personal brand in only one word. This is what community is about... learning about each other, supporting each other, and celebrating together!

    Billings Cultural Partners (BCP), founded in 1997, is a future-focused consortium of cultural organizations in the greater Billings area.  It’s comprised of the leaders of 24 art, history, natural science, and education organizations.  BCP annually engages in collaborative marketing and special community projects that are at the core of the high quality of life in Billings.  Corby, with The Billings Cultural Partners, will be telling us more!
