Noon, 2nd and 4th Wednesday each month. JANUARY 2012 Jan. 11, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Annual Business Meeting. The first meeting of the year is the Annual Business Meeting for MAFE. Please plan to attend to learn about and vote on in-coming officers, committee chairs, and identify where you can contribute to our on-going success. Jan. 12, 2012 NETWORKING: WINE and CHEESE tasting at the new tasting room at SIMPLY WINE, Thursday, January 12, 6p to 8p at 316 So. 24th Street West, next to Coldwater Creek. What a great way to kick off 2012 with a gathering of MAFE members and wine and cheese tasting. The cost is only $15 at the door (made payable to Simply Wine) and we will also be serving some croissant sandwiches to fill our tummies. We ask for your RSVP by January 10th call Kim Bar at 652-3965. But if you can just drop by please do so. Bring a friend or a potential member. HAPPY NEW YEAR! Jan. 19, 2012 NETWORKING: SNEAK PEEK Reception at Western Heritage Center fo “A Mile In Her Shoes - Montana Women at Work” Gallery Exhibit and Display Thursday, Jan. 19 from 5 to 7 pm. MAFE is proud to be one of the major sponsors for this exhibit. Three additional galleries supporting the exhibit will also be opening. WHC is located at 2822 Montana Avenue. RSVP 256-6809. Jan. 25, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Debbie Singer, NorthWestern Energy Energy Efficiency Ideas to Help Your Home & Business: Debbie Singer, MAFE member, will discuss a full menu of energy efficiency commercial and residential rebates and online tools for customers that install energy efficient equipment. You may be surprised at the savings opportunities!
FEBRUARY 2012 Feb. 8, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Chuck Barthuly, Better Billings Foundation-Aquatic Center Hear an update on the progress of the new water complex scheduled to open June 2012 in the Heights. Chuck will explain how this group plans to fill a community need with this facility and provide a great service. Prepare to be SPLASHED!
Feb. 22, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Amy Grandpre, Horticulture Assistant, Master Gardeners As coordinator of the Yellowstone County Master Gardeners program, Amy will give an overview of their purpose, how the program works and the impact they make. For example, in 2009, a Master Gardener Project benefited the Women’s Pre Release Program providing a majority of the vegetables consumed by 200 pre-release residents saving New Visions $2000 on their food bill. Amy will also help us start planning in time for spring planting and give ideas on raised bed gardens.
MARCH 2012 Mar. 14, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Pam Makara, Program Director, RSVP of Yellowstone County RSVP is a valuable community asset that includes more than 600 individuals contributing in excess of 100,000 hours of service within Yellowstone County each year. Learn how senior volunteers inspire and influence change while addressing critical issues that challenge our community. The Council on Aging dba Adult Resource Alliance of Yellowstone County has sponsored the local Retried and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Yellowstone County for 37 years.
Mar. 16, 2012 NETWORKING: “Martinis and a Movie”! Back by popular demand! Bring an appetizer to share and we will provide alcohol (and olives!!). June Luptak is graciously hosting this event at her house in Indian Cliffs, and there is no cost. Everyone is welcome, so grab a friend and come enjoy the “greats” (great time, great movie, great munchies, great company…you get the gist!!). More info to come…..
Mar. 28, 2012 WEDNESDAY LUNCH MEETING: Shelli Mann, General Manager of Boothill Inn, serves as the President of the Yellowstone County Lodging Association and a member of TBID Board of Directors. Shelli Mann, MAFE Member, will share with the members of MAFE how the TBID funds have benefited not only hotels, but the economy of Billings in general. They have gone from a budget of just over $250,000 to nearly a million dollars to “put heads in beds”. You’ll hear helpful insight on the structure of the YCLA and TBID(Tourism Business Improvement District). “Members are the lifeline of M.A.F.E.!”
