Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter is committed to the humane treatment of animals. Over the last decade, YVAS has grown to become the largest shelter in Montana, in-taking over 5,000 every year. Our current shelter programs include reuniting lost pets with their owners, adoption, foster care, volunteer, outreach & education, low-cost spay & neuter clinics, and our life-saving Working Cat Program.
Two years ago we toured the Water Plant and learned about where Billings gets its water and what processes it goes through before it gets to our tap. Now come learn what happens to our water after we pour it down the drain.
The Public Works Department staffs a State Certified Laboratory responsible for testing and monitoring water quality. Testing is performed throughout the entire reclamation processes to ensure that the reclaimed water causes no harm to our environment.
Billings is heavily supported and influenced by the area refineries. Exxon-Mobil, Conoco-Phillips, and Cenex all have facilities here, employing hundreds of area residents and paying substantial taxes that support the Billings community and surrounding area.
